Our third Triumph Italia 2000 restoration is now complete! We even got a little extra validation for our efforts when the car placed third in the Special Coach class at this year’s Concorso Italiano in Monterey Bay, California.
This is the third Triumph Italia restoration we’ve done, and only the fourth Italia we’ve ever had the pleasure of having in our possession. To have restored just one of these incredible cars is a rare treat; to have now completed three restorations is beyond belief. These are unbelievably gorgeous cars that were woefully underappreciated for many years, but are now finally getting the attention, praise, and yes, even the glory they deserve. These cars turn heads. And their eye-appeal is matched on by their rarity. This is one of about 100 cars known to exist, of which approximately fifty are roadworthy.
We’ve performed a comprehensive restoration to show-quality standards, and now this little beauty looks great and drives fantastic. These Italias drive much nicer than their TR3 cousins due in large part to the added support the roof provides. This particular example is optioned from the factory with the rare and desirable overdrive transmission option, which really makes this a great cruiser at freeway speeds. This was a really great car to start with, as it had very little rust and no body damage at all.
We’ve taken care to document the entire restoration process from the day it rolled into the shop to the fantastic finish.

To say this car’s come a long way is an understatement to say the least. The feeling of breathing new life into these rare treasures is simply indescribable. We’ll let the images speak for themselves.
Take a moment to check out the photos of the final stages of the restoration and the finished product. And feel free to comment or ask questions. We’re always on the lookout for other Italias, and would love to hear from you if you own, or even know of one that’s looking to be restored to all its former glory.

Great car. I have always wanted one. Looks like this place is where to have an Italia restored!
Beautiful car, I have a couple of questions. Was the blue paint original to the car, why did you choose to go with silver? Also, I noticed the interior is slightly different on this restoration as opposed to the dark blue Italia you completed previously. The seat pattern is different and I noticed the passenger side foot rest is missing from the previous dark blue car. Were there different interior configurations for this model or were other factors involved in the interior choices? This car is definitely James Bond worthy!
The original color of this car was was dark red. Our client chose to go with the silver color over the original. The Triumph Italia’s came with 2 different style seats. The early cars have upholstery like you see in the silver car and the later cars have like you see in the blue car. All cars had the chrome foot rests but the blue cars was missing. We actually copied the foot rest out of the silver car and had it replicated for the blue car.
please let me know if an italia becomes available to purchase.
Beautiful stying! And with the TR2/3/4 tractor driveline, it’ll be a wonderful driver! Well worth restoring
I like the way you recover your car. but instead of silver paint why don’t you paint blue. I think it will be a little more beautiful. thank you for your sharing
Thanks for the update. It may be time to take a break, at least a short one. The car is looking very good and when you’re happy with the paint it will be a real winner.
