We were on hand for the Morgan Car Meet in beautiful Cambria, California. This event took place July 19-21 and is an annual meet known as MOGWEST. Morgans are one of those cars that just never seem to go out of style, and are still being made by hand in Malvern, England just like they have been for over 100 years. Morgan even just re-released a 3-wheel vehicle for 2013, taking them back to their roots just like they used to produce so many years ago.
This is a fabulous event that takes place on the Central Coast of California along the beautiful scenic coastline of Highway 1. This is one of the largest gatherings of Morgans you will ever see. The event is very laid back and very much a gathering of friends. You can tell everyone knows one another and that everyone is there to have a great time. From a great car show in downtown Cambria, driving tour of the Central Coast, and BBQ at a private ranch along the coast, this event has it all going on and is sure to please all in attendance. If you are a Morgan fan, this is a great event to attend.
Our favorite car of the event has to be the Morgan Plus 4 Plus (+ 4 +). This is one of the rarest Morgans in existence and looks nothing like what you think a Morgan will look like. They were produced between 1964 and 1967, with just 26 examples being made. The car was made by Morgan as an attempt to modernize the styling of the car company, but production was stopped due to low sales.
