This is one of the coolest old Rolls-Royce we have ever had come through our doors. It’s a 1927 Phantom 1 Sedanca De Ville, a 4-door vehicle with an open front compartment and fully enclosed rear compartment. In this configuration, the car looks absolutely amazing and always draws a crowd here in the shop. This has been a local car since the early forties and has belonged to the same family the entire time. It is in amazing original condition and is a real treat to experience.
Although this car is a Rolls-Royce, it was not made in England. This car was produced in Springfield, Massachusetts where Rolls-Royces were produced from 1921 to 1931. Rolls Royce opened up this factory to keep up with demands here in the United States. You can tell that this is a Springfield car because of its left hand drive.
This amazing automobile is in the shop for a new cylinder head. The Phantom 1 is known for cracking cylinder heads, and in recent years, new cylinder heads have been produced. The cylinder head on this car has been cracked and repaired so many times, it’s not possible to repair. Feel free to post questions and comments.
You can’t go wrong with an old rolls royce…love it!
I saw one of these on http://www.chelseaworkshop.co.uk not too long. Amazing machine.
