Every so often we get a car in that is so cool we just have to blog about it. This is the case with this very rare 1949 Jaguar XK120. When Jaguar XK120 production first began, they produced a short run of cars, all handmade with aluminum bodies on ash frames. This is one of those cars and as such is highly desirable in the XK world. This particular car (Chassis #670069) is a long-time local car that has been in storage for many years. We have known about the car for a long time and had never seen it until recently.

This extraordinary car was towed to our shop so that we could get it in shape and back on the road after sitting in storage for many years with the ultimate goal of getting it ready for the Quail Lodge Concours. As you can imagine, all brake systems were completely shot as well the cooling and fuel systems. We went through the car completely, replacing and rebuilding everything that was needed while paying close attention to preserving originality and making sure we didn’t get too carried away.

The car now runs and drives excellent and it’s a great thing to see it back on the road where it belongs after so many years in hiding. This car has been with the same local owner for over forty years and he tells us that Peter and Justin Jurgens are the only two people besides himself to work on and drive this XK120 in that entire time. This has to be one of the only un-restored, alloy-bodied XK120s in the world, and it is a true pleasure to get our hands on it.
