This 1954 Singer SM was just found in Avila Beach, California. This is a car that we have known about for over twenty years. The owner would bring parts in from time to time and tell us he was in the process of restoring the vehicle. He came in some time ago and mentioned that he would like to sell the vehicle because the restoration had come to a stop, and that he had other projects he would like to see completed. About this same time, we were contacted by a customer in the Monterey area looking for a Singer SM for restoration. It’s not every day you get offered a Singer SM and have someone looking for one at the same time!
When we arrived at the owner’s home, we were blown away by what we saw. It was a true barn-find car and had not been touched in nearly thirty years. It took us some time to “unbury” the car, but once we got it out we could see that the alloy body was undamaged and was perfect for restoration.
These cars are known for deterioration, so to find one that was straight and undamaged is virtually unheard of. We also found loads of new parts and lots of new chrome in boxes. On close inspection, we found that the car was complete and would be perfect for our customer.
The car is now at its new home in Monterey and restoration is underway. I have asked that we be updated on the restoration process, so stay tuned to watch this car come back to life.
How is the restoration of this car progressing?
The owner of the Singer was just in a few weeks ago to give us an update. The car is now completely stripped but obviously has a long ways to go. I have asked him to keep us updated and send a few pics when he gets further along.
